PLM utterly rejects any attempt, through surveys, media projections etc., to lull us into accepting elections run and controlled by traditional politicians (trapos), political dynasties and the ruling elite.
Elections cannot be genuinely democratic when political power remains concentrated in the hands of the wealthy elite, oligarchs and entrenched political families. The formal right to vote means little when the political system is structured to reproduce their power.
We must not be reduced to spectators in a political system designed to keep us powerless—to choosing between rival factions of the same ruling elite.
We must resist attempts to lull us into believing that there is no alternative.
Students, workers and the masa around the world are rising up against the attacks on democratic rights by the institutions of the elite — from Brazil, to Europe and India. They are demanding alternatives.
There is an alternative. A Gobyerno ng Masa.
A government built on the organised power of the working class, the poor and the mass movement—not on the interests of oligarchs, political clans and entrenched elites. A political alternative rooted in the struggles and aspirations of ordinary Filipinos, in which the masa can shape and determine their own political future.
No to elite-controlled politics. No to dynastic rule. Build the political power of the masa!
Hindi tayo walang alternatiba. May alternatiba tayo: Gobyerno ng Masa!
