Yesterday was a very successful and for PLM, quite a historic event. We just had a Socialist School, participated in by more than 40 members, mostly PLM YS (youth and students). This was the first time the manuscript of the book “Makibaka Para sa Sosyalismo Ngayon” was presented at very new forces of young students in high schools (from Grades 5 to 12). We have proven that new youth recruits can understand socialism although at a very simplified discussion.
The discussion ranged from Philippine history; three basic problems of Philippine society today (updated to US imperialism, capitalism, and political dynasty); classes in society (also updated) and social movements; strategy and tactics (mostly forms of struggle) but introducing an integrated strategy; the concept of revolutionary bloc by Gramsci which includes classes and social movements (women, YS, urban poor, etc.); Gobyerno ng Masa; transitional program of the Gobyerno ng Masa; and what will a full-pledged socialist society would look like.
Although it’s a very simplified discussion, but with workshops, and identifying their class positions and class background, and familiarizing them with the terms imperialism, capitalism, (they know political dynasty), strategy, revolutionary bloc, (they know Gobyerno ng Masa), and transition program, and snapshots of a full-pledged socialist society.
This is a very initial and quite condensed discussion. But when the book comes out (hopefully in October), everyone would get a chance to read it. The next Socialist Course discussion open to representatives of allied groups will be in September and will be announced soon. For invitation only.
Comrades, it can be done. We can have proud groups of socialists as a result of our Socialist Course.
