Dear comrades of the Socialist Party of Malaysia,
The Partido Lakas ng Masa (PLM) in the Philippines, extends our warmest revolutionary greetings and solidarity to the 28th Annual National Congress of the Socialist Party of Malaysia.
Your continued struggles against forced evictions, the privatisation and neoliberalisation of public healthcare, and the broader injustices of capitalism demonstrate the vital role that a principled socialist organisation can play in building resistance from below.
Across our region, working people face deepening inequality, political corruption, corporate power, authoritarianism and the escalating social and environmental crises of capitalism.
At the same time, the political space is increasingly contested by forces of the far right and by elites who offer different versions of the same system.
We believe the task of the left is not simply to oppose the failures of the existing order, but to present a viable socialist alternative—one rooted in the everyday struggles of working people and backed by a strong, organised social base.
Our call for Gobyerno ng Masa (Government of the Masses) is part of this transitional socialist strategy: a call to build an alternative government rooted in the organised strength and democratic power of workers, communities and the oppressed.
It seeks to connect immediate struggles against corruption, inequality, exploitation and injustice with the longer-term struggle for socialism-raising political consciousness, building organisation from the local level upwards, and developing the capacity of working people to govern in their own interests.
The struggle for socialism will not be won through elections alone. We need organised people capable of becoming the agents of their own emancipation.
We greatly value the international solidarity and cooperation between socialist and progressive organisations across Asia. We are united by the common challenge of global capitalism and the shared need to build a powerful socialist alternative.
We wish PSM a successful Congress and renewed strength for the struggles ahead.
